Privacy Policy
Updated 29 September 2026. This policy describes NutriSnap version 2.5 and later, with a separate section for earlier versions still in use. Where versions differ, the version is named. Controller: Roman Savenok. Contact: geometryowl@gmail.com.
Your diary and profile
Meal names, photos, nutrient estimates, dates, favorites, goals, measurements and weight history are stored on your device. The app does not require a NutriSnap account or use its own cloud diary service. Your device backup settings may allow Apple to back up app data. Notifications use your settings and diary activity on your device.
Optional AI processing by OpenAI
Before using AI features, NutriSnap asks your permission to send selected meal photos and food descriptions to OpenAI to estimate nutrition. When you request insights or an AI summary, it may also send up to 20 recent diary entries or daily nutrition totals. These can contain health-related information. The app sends requests directly to OpenAI; your IP address and request metadata are visible to its service.
NutriSnap requests that Responses API outputs are not stored as retrievable response history (store: false). This is not a promise of zero retention: OpenAI may retain abuse-monitoring logs, including content, for up to 30 days, and longer where required by law or for security. API data is not used to train OpenAI models by default. See OpenAI’s data controls and privacy policy.
AI features are optional. You can add meals manually without sending them to AI. Withdraw consent in Settings → Privacy. Withdrawal stops future AI use; it does not undo processing already performed.
Apple Health (optional, version 3.0)
If you turn on Settings → Water & Health → Apple Health, NutriSnap saves the calories, protein, carbohydrates and fat of the meals you log, and the drinks you add with the water buttons, to Apple Health, and reads your most recent body weight from it. Health data stays on your device and in Apple Health: it is not sent to our servers, to OpenAI, or to any analytics or advertising service. You can turn the switch off or change access in the Health app at any time.
Barcode lookups (version 3.0)
When you scan or type a barcode, NutriSnap sends only that barcode number to the Open Food Facts database to fetch the product’s name, nutrition facts and package photo; no diary or account data is sent. Barcode lookups do not use AI. See Open Food Facts’ privacy policy.
Usage analytics
When usage analytics is on, Google Firebase Analytics measures app interactions, device/app information, approximate region and purchase events to help improve the app. NutriSnap does not attach meal photos, food names or descriptions, portion sizes, water amounts, body measurements, nutrition values or Apple Health data to its analytics events, and analytics is not used for cross-app advertising. From version 2.6, the default depends on where you are: where the law requires consent (for example the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, as reported by Google’s User Messaging Platform), analytics stays off unless you turn it on. Elsewhere it is on by default. You can turn it on or off at any time in Settings → Privacy, and a choice you make is always kept. In version 2.5, analytics was off unless you turned it on. Analytics data may be associated with an app-instance identifier; it is not completely anonymous.
Reminders
If you allow notifications, NutriSnap schedules meal reminders, a daily summary and occasional reminders after a few days without opening the app. They are scheduled on your device from your settings and diary activity; you can change or turn them off in Settings → Notifications or in iOS Settings.
Advertising and configuration
The free experience may display Google AdMob ads. Google’s User Messaging Platform collects applicable advertising privacy choices before ads can be requested. Depending on your region and choices, Google and its advertising partners process device identifiers, approximate location derived from network information, ad interactions, crash reports and performance or technical diagnostics for delivery, measurement, reliability and fraud prevention. Required advertising privacy options are available in Settings → Privacy. Pro access removes ads. NutriSnap version 2.5 does not initialize Meta, TikTok or Singular marketing attribution SDKs.
Firebase Remote Config and Firebase Installations retrieve app configuration, including AI model settings. Google processes installation identifiers and technical connection data to provide these services. See Firebase privacy and security and Google’s privacy policy.
Earlier versions
Versions before 2.5 initialize additional advertising and measurement integrations, including Meta, TikTok and Singular, and may collect usage and purchase events automatically. These partners may associate device identifiers, app interactions, advertising data and purchase events with other data for advertising measurement. Older versions do not include all the privacy controls described above. Update to version 2.5 when available to use the revised consent controls. The App Store privacy label also reflects collection by the currently distributed version.
Purchases and support
Apple handles payments and subscription management. NutriSnap uses StoreKit transaction information to grant access; it does not receive your payment card number. If you email support, your email and the details you choose to send are used to respond and resolve your request.
Retention, deletion and your rights
Delete individual diary entries in the app. Removing the app deletes its local diary on that device; device backups and some iOS Keychain entitlement or free-use records may persist. Manage backups through Apple. Turning off analytics stops future collection; it does not automatically delete data already received by providers. Contact us for access, correction, deletion or privacy requests, including any information needed to locate applicable data. Legal rights depend on your location and may include objection, restriction, portability, withdrawal of consent and a complaint to your local data protection authority.
Providers may process data in other countries under their published safeguards. Consent is used for optional AI processing, and for usage analytics where the law requires consent. Elsewhere, usage analytics relies on our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the app, and you can object at any time by turning it off in Settings → Privacy. Subscription delivery and support are used to provide the service you request. Technical security and abuse prevention support operation of the service. We do not sell diary content. This policy is not a claim that data collection stops when all optional toggles are off: essential configuration and Apple purchase services still operate.
Age and changes
Automatic nutrition goals are designed for adults. The app is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. For nutrition needs involving pregnancy, breastfeeding or a medical condition, seek a qualified professional. We may update this policy as the product changes and will present a new consent request when needed.
